About Us
The World at Of Course Kennels
In 1963 my father, Bill Turpin, acquired our family's first Whippet. In 1964 he formed Of Course kennels and added our Whippet foundation female, Am/Can Ch Rockabye Ember Of Course. Recognized not only in Canada and the US, but in England as well, Of Course Whippets were sought after by both racing and show enthusiasts alike.
The belief that a dog should be able to perform the function for which is was bred became the cornerstone at Of Course and still is to this day. There is an adage that if some is good, more is not necessarily better. For this reason, we have made extra efforts to err on the side of moderation and adherence to the breed standard.
In 1995 our first Rhodesian Ridgeback, Brutus, came to Of Course. He attained his championship in due, but ultimately was neutered and became a well-loved pet. After adopting a rescue RR from California in 1996, I began the daunting journey of looking for another “Ember.”
After many long hours of research, pedigree scrutiny, philosophy matching and the quest for the most ideal RR female I could find, I found Zellie. Ch. Wyndrunhr Never On A Sunday SC, NAJ, OA—arguably one of the best producing RR bitches of her time. After three years of research and waiting, I finally brought young Diva home.
Out of BISS Ch Rajataru Dbltke Baraka, my little “true” wheaten girl inherited her parents tenacity, love for the ring and genetic strength that is unsurpassed. In 2004, Bonnie Norris of Wyndrunhr kennels stated that I was not breeding dogs, I was cloning them.
Since Diva came home in 1999, she has gone on to win many prestigious awards despite a very selective show career. But there is more about Diva on her own page. Today, she is known as BOSS, BVIS Can./Am. Ch. Wyndrunhr Airborne Of Course.
